IM Group companies operate in various different markets including mainly Automotive and Property. IM Group is a major international company founded in the Midlands in 1976. Since then IM Group has grown and diversified to become an internationally-renowned family-owned powerhouse in the automotive, property and finance sectors – driven by a strong Christian ethos.
Our business is built on integrity, relationships and being inventive and innovative – as we have proved, time and again, throughout our company’s history. IM Group employs around 500 staff across the world.
IM Group’s property division can trace its roots back to 1987. Initially separate from the car division, today IM Properties generates the largest share of our income and comprises four divisions – Development, Investment, Strategic Land and Spitfire Homes, which develops high-quality residential accommodation. IM Properties now develops large business and industrial employment parks in the UK and overseas, including a number of major developments in the US.
Spitfire Homes is our newest property company. It has grown since 2010 from just two people and a £1.5-million four-cottage development in an Oxfordshire village to more than 100 staff working from the Midlands, with a turnover in excess of £100 million.
Our Automotive business operates in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. IM Group has a long-standing relationship with China having established our first office in Beijing in the mid-1990s. In 2005 we opened the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) in Beijing, a franchise of the UK government agency. We recruit and train VCA engineers and manage the business on behalf of the UK government. Part of our growing automotive business with China is the export of British-made Autoglym products. We are distributors in China of the highly-prized car-cleaning and care range.
In parallel with the development of our automotive business we created Specialist Motor Finance Limited (SMFL) providing vehicle-purchase finance.
